Resting on the Northeast corner of the Yucatán Peninsula in the
state of Quintana Roo (keen-tah-nah-ROW), Cancún was a part of
the ancient Mayan civilization and is still considered the gateway
to the Mayan World (“El Mundo Maya”). Mayan temples and ritual
sites are literally everywhere, some smothered by lush jungle,
others easily accessible (one pops up at one of our golf courses).
There is even a Mayan temple overlooking the Caribbean Sea in
the heart of the Cancún Hotel Zone.

Cancún delivers the best of both worlds: the Caribbean AND
México. For clients who frequent other Caribbean destinations,
Cancún offers an unequalled mix of man-made, natural, and
cultural attractions.

Part of the excitement of a visit to Cancún is its accessibility to
a world gone by. Remains of the ancient Maya civilization are
scattered throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. Some, like the temple
at the Westin Lagunamar are right in Cancún. Others, like Chichén
Itzá and Ek-Balam are in the neighboring state of Yucatan, just a
couple hours’ drive from the Hotel Zone. All hold the secrets of a
fascinating culture, known the world over for its illustrious
achievements in art, architecture and science.
